Game Rec New Nintendo Gamer, looking for titles to get my bearings and to get familiar with the Switch?

[PLEASE DELETE IF NOT ALLOWED] I haven’t played a Nintendo title since Super Paper Mario on the Wii back in like 07/08. I just ordered a Nintendo Switch and have a few titles in mind. My big 3 I’ve found I want to try are Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros, and Bayonetta 3. I was also thinking maybe Breath Of the Wild eventually but that might be too hard for a new player like me so I might wait. I’m not much into Mario titles anymore, but I enjoy simulators, A/JRPGS, rogue likes, and horror, so what games do you guys enjoy playing in handheld/on the go? I’ll list some 3rd party games I definitely plan on getting so you might understand my rate better; Dark Souls Remastered, Persona 5, Stardew Valley, and Civ 6 to name a few I plan on getting to play on the go. I won’t be using it docked much, not sure if that helps with recommendations but thought I should put it out there. Anyways thank you all so much for taking the time and reading this, and thank you again for taking the time to leave me a comment. I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Game Rec Space Games for Switch?

So i tried out No Mans Sky, and its a good and fun game and its incredbile that it runs kinda smooth (compared to the hardware) on the Switch, but this game feels a bit tidious. It feels like work, because it so complex. (Its not a good game to pause for some weeks/months an pick it up again) so i was looking for something else.

Im open to all genres, just looking for something space-related. A game that you can play then and now and just have some fun.

Game Rec Looking for a puzzle/point and click adventure game that can be enjoyed together

As a little background, last year when I was visiting my parents for the holidays, my brother recommended machinarium to me and my mother overheard. Since we all enjoy these types of games and I had brought my switch dock with me, playing the game ended up being a family event with all of us on the couch trying to solve the puzzles. As it was a blast, I'm trying to find similar games so we can do the same thing again this Christmas and would love some recommendations.

Some important things to note:

• It should be a single player game, as my parents aren't gamers. (Two player games might be doable, but would involve more logistics.)

• The focus should be on the puzzles, rather than story. And I think environmental puzzles would be preferable. (So not something like the Layton games.)

• Full play time should be around 5-6 hours, at the very most 10 hours.

• If text is important to the gameplay, it should be available in German (if it's just occasional I don't mind translating, but it would be annoying for the entire play time).

If a game doesn't perfectly fit all of these points I'd still love to hear about it, since I greatly enjoy puzzle games myself.

Editing to add: The art style shouldn't be dark and it shouldn't contain death or gruesome topics (essentially it should also be suitable for children).

Game Rec Difficult games on NSwitch!

Hi! So I'm a biiig fan of soulslike, rougelikes, or any of the sort. Those well-designed games that have a good balance of difficulty that will get me stuck for days and have the victory be absolutely worth it, you know? So I'm looking if there are more games like that on the switch, what I have right now:

  1. Dark Souls

  2. Cuphead

  3. Hades

  4. Hollow Knight

  5. Enter the Gungeon

I'm unfortunately not that interested in Dead Cells/Celeste, I don't know why. Extra points if they have charming artstyles, thanks guys!

Edit: Thanks for the suggestion guys!! I've found games I haven't before and also I might actually give DC / Celeste another try, particularly Celeste. But there are so many good suggestions and I guess now I just have to contemplate which game I'm getting first 😭

Game Rec Any good story games with voice acting?

Can anyone recommend any good games that use story mode or have a story play by default that uses voice acting for the characters so I’m not just reading text and I feel like I’m playing both a game and a nice story to watch to follow along with?

For example I enjoyed Wylde Flowers and Life is Strange series on switch

I’ll look into recommendations from any genre expect horror games. I wanna know if there’s more good story games with voice acting that I don’t know about so please help me out because I enjoy them.

Thank you to everyone who left/ are leaving me recommendations! I will look into video reviews in my free time of these games.

Question Anyone have tried to control a Switch via PC?

I'm a disabled gamer and I play games using various assistive software such as Hot Virtual Keyboard and KinesicMouse LIVE. Here's a video of me playing games on a PS5: https://youtu.be/UkratdDMfy0?si=Ahxpnvz3pt3oD_m9

Since I'm a big fan of Nintendo games, I was wondering if I could play Switch games in the same way. 🤔

I've heard that there aren't many accessibility options for Nintendo Switch and I can't use a physical game controller, but I don't want to give up. 🙂

So, my theory is to use a cheap capture card to view the Switch's screen and find hardware that can transmit the logical (non-physical) keystrokes from my PC to control the Switch.

ChatGPT suggested the Titan One or Titan Two adapter, but I don't know much about these devices.

Does anyone have any experience controlling a Switch from a PC?

Game Rec More recommendations for spooky season?

Hello! I need some more recommendation for spooky games for spooky season! So far I really only have Luigi's Mansion and Pumpkin Jack. Both were incredible and silly in their own ways but I'm looking for some creepier titles.

Discussion What're you playing this weekend? 10/11

Hello everyone! Welcome to the weekend!

Hope if anyone lives near the hurricane path that you are safe and sound, that looked crazy this week.

I just grabbed Astro Dogs, which is a kind of vaporwave meets paw patrol take on Star Fox. Its fun so far, I'm only like 1 mission in so far.

What will you be getting into?

Summoning echoes to build towers and fight enemies? Rewindng and fastforwarding through the detritus of memories? Stumbling through haunted mansions trying to be brave?

Let me know below!

Game Rec Best farming game for 7 and 9 year old?

My daughters love simple online farming games so I'd like to get them one for the switch.

I read Stardew Valley has too many adult themes and even Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town is 12 rated and possibly a bit fanboyish. So what else is there to consider?

They don't really want to get married or die, just build a farm :o)
