23 F, who recently started her fitness journey. I was 315lb and now 270lbs. I celebration of 40lbs down I'm looking to buy a garmin watch. I want something to track my 15k steps daily and for when I decide to start running again. In addition it would be nice to use it to track my weight training sessions. Im also on a budget and don't want to spend $400 on a watch. Is garmin even for me? Please tell me which one would work best for my budget and lifestyle.

Had garmin watches back in the early watches, got irritated on the features trailing so far behind so switched. Couldn't pass up the awesome deal on prime day so I'm back!

Hi,
I had a Fenix 8 for a few weeks and really liked the downloadable strength plans. But the watch was too big and bulky, (47 and 51 mm), the 43 mm watch was not available in black, so I downgraded to a Venu. To my surprise, the Venu does not support the Strength Garmin Coach, only the running and cycling coaches. One of my prime use cases was having the dang thing download generated, adaptive plans so I don't have to think about putting together workouts. So this is a disappointment.
Will this watch ever get that Strength Coach? Or is there some other way (like a free or paid service) to get plans like this (spanning several weeks)? Kind of weird, as according to the watch, it DOES have support for the animated workout explanations like the Fenix 8. Has.
Thanks in advance for all input.

I currently have a Whoop device. I like the metrics, however I hate that Whoop forces you to to use it a certain way. It's a lifestyle tracker whether you like it or not. Whoop doesn't like it if you aren't wearing it 24 hours a day.
Can I just wear a Garmin watch whenever I feel like it and it will work? I like having workout / daily activity tracking when I want it. But I also want to be able to take it off without being chastised for it. I want to tell the device when I want metrics, not have the device tell me how to get them.
I'm looking at replacing my whoop with a Garmin Instinct 2x Solar.

No way of accessing menu to power off. It died yesterday, and it charged over night, but this is all it’s doing now.

About to buy one of the Garmin 45 or 47 mm GPS watches in Canada. My main activities are: hunting, fishing, backcountry hiking, pickleball and traveling. So I don't need the full range of activities that are built into some of the models. So I'm calling on you to help me make the best choice because despite my research I'm increasingly undecided. 1 - Budget $1,000 Can. 2- 47mm max. 3- Integrated detailed topo maps and/or ability to easily add more (Garmin and others) 4-Ability to create and add route tracks and waypoints and return to starting point function. 5- Ability to enable/disable one or more activities/features that are not useful to me. 6- This watch will be worn every day

I recently purchased a Forerunner 965 (my first Garmin). After 3 weeks I’ve realized that a Fenix is the way I should’ve went.
So, I’m trading in my 965 for a Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar.
Tell me I won’t regret it..

I never got out of the Apple ecosystem and that would be a first.
Do you have any advice on how to make a Garmin sync / work better with Mac/iOS?

Are sleep and activity the only available focus modes on the Fenix 8? It seems like it would be pretty simple to be able to create multiple modes but I don't see how to do that anywhere. Am I missing something?

Hi, does anyone know if Joe Rogan uses the Sapphire or Standard Glass version of the Garmin Fenix 7X Solar? Thanks!

Hi guys. My Enduro 3 will arrive tomorrow (upgrade from Instinct 2x) and I was curious about your uses for let's face it, very advanced and versatile device. Stuff outside of core funcrionality :
I can't live without the built in torch, also I find very helpfull to use stopwatch to time different events so fe I know how long I have been waiting for food.

My watch has completely missed that I slept last night. It thinks I haven’t had any sleep!
How has this happened?

Because of ongoing issues with my Forerunner 965, Garmin now offered me to replace it with the Fenix E - 47 mm. I have been comparing and don't seem to find a reason as to why I should refuse, can anyone advice me on this? Thanks in advance!

I have been with Fitbit since the Charger HR and the last one was the Charger 5, that died suddenly two weeks ago.
I thought I would get the Casio H2000 as I also have a ProTrek. Got it in the mail and it was the crappiest experience ever. Even though it looks great but It had a Broken HR sensor that throws an error and the app is a total mess and the backlight is just hideous.
Fast forward to today, and Boy am I happy I got this thing. More features that you could ask for, amazing battery life, and look way better than the picture online.
My only take is that the Casio Is more comfortable even though it is bigger.

i am cyclist with a bike computer (edge 530, soon 540) and a heart rate strap
i am will be doing a lot of additional sport (to my indoor cycling) during the winter where i do not care about performance, it's fun and it helps me getting fitter for next summer
the sports i will do: ski mountaineering, skiing, xc skiing, hiking, running, lifting, climbing, badminton, squash etc.
i mostly care about "measuring" my recovery to not overdo it and overtrain - yes, i will also be listening to my body
why would i choose a forerunner 965 over a venu 3 which is around ~$100 cheaper and has the new elevate 5 sensor?

2 years ago I was a student not that familiar with Garmin and wanted to buy a sports watch. Ofcourse, I bought a cheaper model: Garmin Instinct. I've enjoyed using the watch over the past time but I also developped an obsession with Garmin Fenix 7, so I want to switch. I am just struggling with justifying (for myself) spending the amount of money. So please convince me haha.
I'm a regular cyclist using a Garmin 1040, other than that I run regularly (just did a first event of 1/4 marathon), surf during summers, liked the recording option during skiing and am getting into either strength training weekly or swimming weekly (not decided yet). Oh also lots of hiking on holiday with my boyfriend 😀 So quite active overall

Hello all! I currently have an Apple Watch and would like to transition into a Garmin, but I use Spok Paging here at work. Do any of you know if you get alerts from pages via Spok like you do on an Apple Watch?
Thanks in advance!

I’ve had my watch for about a month now and I’ve felt like it was pretty accurate. I woke up this morning feeling great then Garmin says i was awake for a total of an hour (when I wasn’t) and that I had 98 restless moments… Is the sleep software accurate or total BS?

Hi there!
I was thinking about trying to lower my 5k time (last try was 23:24 a while ago). My current prediction time is 21:42 but when i set up a Garmin Coach plan it only lets my go as low as 22:00. Not only I cant try to improve my current Garmin predicton but Coach needs 11 weeks to get me under 22:00. Am i missing something or this makes absolutely no sense at all?
Thanks!

I was out riding today and my phone announced the lap time. How do I stop it? During a solo ride its only irritating, during a solo ride passing strangers its just odd, during a ride with friends what if it says “you have put on a kilo and are really having to work hard to get up this tiny hill”!

Does anyone prefer the silicon bands over the nylon bands and why?
r/GarminWatches • u/gibbons07 • 16h ago
Looking at Venu 3 and FR 265. I have some knee issues so I elliptical, walk, cycle, and do a lot of weights. I also started taking my diet serious.
Will the benefits of the watches and metrics like readiness (265) and other things be useful? Someone was saying it was designed with running and cycling in mind
I had a Fitbit and it tracked my heart rate pretty well and it was integrated well with myfitness pal. I liked that feature with calories out and in. It wasn’t perfect but it was a metric I got used to
