Fixed issue causing basecamp to fail to recognize the device.
——————————————————————————————————————
On Version 18.14 there is currently a battery drain bug that drains your battery faster after you finished a GPS Workout.
Source: Myself & Most voted thread on Garmin Forums.
The bug is known since the beta of 18.14, yet Garmin didn't bother to fix it. Now they released it into their "stable" version 2 weeks ago. No fix has been delivered since then.
So I am writing this post to warn you to not update to 18.14 and maybe if this gets enough upvotes Garmin and the Media will see this so it gets prioritized.
If you are already on 18.14, and you have a feeling you might be affected by this bug, these are the workarounds for you to not face a major battery drain after an activity:
Option 1: Reboot your watch after an GPS Activity. You have to do this after every activity with GPS.
Option 2: After you finished your GPS Activity you need to start and stop a non GPS Acitivity. (for example Yoga) after that it also won't be draining your battery. You also have to do this everytime after an GPS acitivity.
Option 3: downgrade
Maybe Option 4: Some people are suggesting it also might drain because there is an issue with Incident Detection. Some Forerunner Devices had this bug, which is now fixed. So maybe try turning off incident detection.
I hope this post helps someone. Since I saw a lot of posts in the last days when people were complaining about their suddenly massive battery drain. This could be the issue. If you are affected contact Garmin support to raise awareness.
I really hope Garmin fixes this ASAP!

After 18 months doing nothing except gaining 13kg due to an injury, I started running seriously 3 months ago. Hit my first half distance a month ago, and now this one I'm pretty happy about.
Garmin watch has been a great motivator :)
My fitness is definitely not near where I’d like, but I’ll take it for being a graduate student! Yay! I love my Garmin :)

Still below average but it feels good to see some progress. My long run of week 9 on the 1/2 marathon training plan pushed me over the edge!!

I had not prepared properly (around 10-15 mpw, longest run was 12 miles) because I’m focusing more on strength training for a while. Still, I decided to wing it and run. I was fine aerobically, but my legs are fried.
I know that the pace will invite sniggers, but I do envisage running a half again in the future, with better mileage (once I’ve finished my strength training cycle). Is there any way to know how much I could improve with increased mileage? Like I’m 100% sure I will never run a 1:00 half, but what’s would be the limit? 1:30? 1:25?

I'm seeing a great deal on a garmin fenix 7 on recover for athletes, I'm having a hard time figuring out if it's legit. Seems almost too good to be true and the reviews I can find are mixed, seems like the company is legit but has some issues sometimes? There's also a sale on the same watch at scuba.com, which I'm also having a hard time figuring out if it's legit (scuba says the watch is on back order but you can order and expect it to ship around 10/24, I don't quite have that time to wait, recovery says they are shipping this week).
This watch is for my boyfriend and I'm bummed he didn't pull the trigger a few days ago when bikecloset had the same sale, trying to help him find a good deal -_-

I have a 965, and use DSW to train (did for a 10K and Half this year). I have registered for a Half for May 2025. Is it too soon to enter that in my calendar for DSW workouts, or should I wait, and just follow the random suggestions for a few months?
Has anyone else’s metrics dropped, stress levels increased and sleep score plummeted this last week in the UK, due to the cold weather? Or am I coming down with an illness that I’m not aware of 😅

Amazing as I was staying away in a hotel, I don’t normally sleep so well when I’m away from home 😁👍

Peaking?!?! I didn't know this was an option!
I do not think I am doing anything different from my Fenix 6 Sapphire to Fenix 8 Sapphire. Since I bought my Fenix 8 I noticed my VO2 max increasing. Has anyone noticed any difference?
I did a strenuous backpacking trip in the Tetons for a week. (Which my Fenix 8 recorded but will not sync to Connect, but that is a separate issue)
I do not run much. I do mostly BeachBodi Workout (The Work) and boot camp workouts.
Unfortunately the Fenix 8 is not better at strength training (even with a chest heart monitor)
Anyone else experiencing this? Are the algorithms different? Apparently I train "better" with the Fenix 8!

So I made a post a few days ago how garmin shows my lactate threshold at 30bpm and today I finally did a LTT and did it all with success but am wondering why is garmin showing 78bpm as my threshold I just beat my butt for the wrong answer does anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Are you supposed to reset zones before doing the test? Help is much needed thank you.

I’ve been running on average 5 days a week since July 1st. Some weeks 4 days and some days 6 days but you get the gist. I’ve come such a long way! When I started I couldn’t run a mile without walking. My mile time was I think 14 minutes and now I can run a mile in 10:30 pretty easily. My PB is 9:30. I can also run a 5k fairly easily without walking…PB 35:30. So basically I’ve had A LOT of growth and I am proud of myself.
My only issue at the moment is my VO2max will NOT budge. I had the Vivoactive 5 for several months and my Vo2 stayed on 32. It bumped up a point after my first 5k race but it went back down to 32 after a couple days and hasn’t budged since.
I got the forerunner 165 at the start of October because I wanted the daily suggested workouts. I was also able to set my HR zones correctly on the watch. So since the start of October I’ve done mostly the DSW workouts with a few runs of my own (mostly 5ks in Zones 4 and Zone 5) sprinkled in here and there. Still no budge on the Vo2. I know the only thing I can do is keep at it, but it’s so frustrating that I’ve been running for so long and I’m seeing great personal gains but my Vo2 is still so poor. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hello! I am training for a half in March and recently upgraded to a forerunner 165 that has the daily suggested runs. I am struggling with how to get the most out or it. I started by using pace as target, then switched to HR as target as I read that was the best way to use DSW. I find myself really struggling to run by heart rate.
The runs are really frustrating because it spends the first 5 minutes yelling at me that my HR is too low, even though I am going from my 110HR for warm up to 150s for easy/base/recovery runs. Is that just what you have deal with or am I missing something?
For threshold runs, its even worse. I spend the first 5 minutes of a 15 minute threshold run going WAY too fast in an attempt to get my HR up, then have to stop and walk because I was going way too fast, then spend the entire cool down getting yelled at that I'm too high as well.
I have read that HR as target is the best way to get the most out of the daily suggested runs, especially for beginners. I am wondering if I simply don't have enough experience with pacing myself to run by heart rate and need to switch back to pace? Or use HR for recovery runs and pace for everything else?
Any tips on how to run by HR is appreciated, and any tips on the best way to use DSW would be appreciated as well.

Hi everyone! 33F and new Fenix 7s pro user here. I've recently finished my fourth half marathon (2:25 after a break in training, PB was 2:15 in 2022) transitioning from using Greg's plan to using the daily suggested workout in mid-August (averaging 25-30km/week since)
I'm eyeing the Rome marathon mid-March 2025 and set up the race calendar accordingly, thinking I'd try the mileage ramp up, and if my body holds up, I'd bite the bullet sometime in December and sign up.
Weird thing is: ever since setting the Rome marathon as a goal, Garmin is giving me running AND cycling as DSWs (never happened before).
For instance, this week: Monday: running base 30min (147bpm); cycling base 30min (80W) Tuesday: running 43min threshold with 23min @ 173bpm. Wednesday: running 28min recovery; cycling 30min recovery. Thursday: running base 30min; cycling base 30min. Friday: running base 32min; cycling base 39min. Saturday: running sprints 44min Sunday: running base 53min; cycling base 42min.
Is this a way for my watch to make up for the fact that my body can't handle high running mileage weeks yet? Or is this just random? (the cycling just appears on my watch, not in the coach section of Garmin connect) And it is indeed a way to up mileage, do I need to do both running and cycling as doubles? Or do I mostly just do the running and pick and choose cycling as cross training if my legs aren't feeling fresh?
Any insights much appreciated, as this is all new and daunting 🙏

I've just had a flat flat line..... regardless of effort or lack thereof... and I know its a coincidence but it was round about the time the fenix 8 was released :)

This was my second ever half marathon. I tried the same race five years ago but had issues with my blood sugar that lead me to walk 80% of the distance and finishing with a time of 3:07. This time I was much better prepared. And even though I still had some issues, including my glucose monitor failing, I managed To beat my target by more than 10 minutes! Thank you for the inspiration for trying to push hard! I went in fast early on and dropped off but trusted in my training to carry me through. There is still so much to learn for me, especially in these longer distances.

Was able to keep a pretty consistent pace with nose breathing almost the entire time for my first half marathon. This is the furthest I’ve ever run so I didn’t have a time goal but I’m super proud!

Hi! Was there the S version in any generation of 95 Forerunners? I want to upgrade my 245 to a higher Forerunner model or Fenix, only Fenix S fits my thin hand, but they are expensive. Perhaps there are or are planned S versions in the models 95?

Hi there,
My new Venu 3 is regularly losing the Bluetooth connection to my phone (even with the phone nearby) (Android) and then needs to be manualy connected again.
Any ideas how I can solve that problem/ensure that my watch stays connected (or at least is connecting once I open the app)
Thank you
