Subreddit Rules

Hi everyone,

After seeing some of the behavior of our subreddit denizens, I am implementing a couple rules as of now with more to follow down the road. Please take a moment to read them here or in the sidebar.

Rules:

  1. All users are expected to be respectful to other users at all times and conduct their behaviour in a civil manner. Personal attacks or comments that insult or demean a specific user or group of users will be removed and regular or egregious violations will result in bans. Slur use is not allowed in r/1500isplenty. Exceptions may be made when they are part of a quote, but this is a friendly subreddit and using slurs when talking to others will not be tolerated.

Don't be abusive or harass other users. Do not make blatant statements of bigotry, such as "I hate gays" or "Black people suck". Do not make jokes or statements that sexualize comments or posts, as we have zero tolerance for this behaviour and you will be banned. Do not encourage suicide in any form, through humour or otherwise. Continuing arguments with other users over multiple comments is termed "slapfighting" and not allowed. Such behaviour may lead to comment removals and bans. In summary, any post or comment that is deemed to be intended to offend, demean, or otherwise egregiously disrespect others may warrant a removal or ban.

Comments and posts mentioning subreddits and websites deemed to be harmful, because of demeaning content, spam, etc., will be filtered. Unmarked NSFW links, unmarked spoilers, misleading links, spam, and the likes will will result in removal and potentially a ban. Editing comments and posts to mislead and/or advertise will result in removal of the post/comment and potentially a ban.

  2. Soliciting money, goods, services, self promotions, or favours are not allowed. Gaining publicity for a charity drive, assistance with a homework or work assignment, asking other Redditors for or offering to provide a good or service (including upvotes or reddit gold) is not conducive to discussion. There are other subreddits, many listed in our Offers & Assistance Multi-reddit, for just such a thing. Doing this, even as a joke, can result in a ban.

Brigading from other posts or comments, even from other subreddits, to a 1500isplenty post or comment may result in a ban. Brigading occurs when you make any attempt to direct online traffic to a post or comment for either positive or negative interaction with the content, including, but not limited to: asking for downvotes or upvotes, drawing in supporters to join a comment chain, or encouraging others to negatively interact with another user by linking to the r/1500isplenty post or comment. Extreme cases of brigading will result in a permanent ban.

Seems pretty simple so hopefully there will be less petty insults and unacceptable behavior here. First offense is a 7 day ban and the second offense is a permanent ban.

TL;DR: don't be a dick

Not tracked: spray oil for air frying (around 5 sprays total) and 1tsp of gochujang.

Literally just grate/chop and mix ingredients, season with garlic, gochujang, soy, whatever you have in, wet rice paper, fill fold and air fry for 10-15 mins.

Help with last 5 pounds?

Hey all!

26F, 6ft, 170lbs

I've lost 36lbs so far since January but I'm now stuck 5lbs away from my goal.

Thing is, I know it's my fault, I eat too much chocolate and struggle to cut down on take out. On "good" days I eat between 1500 and 1700, and "bad" days 2000-2200, I've calculated that around 2100 is my maintenance.

I want to start exercising as I feel like that's the key to continue losing weight without losing my will to live, and have been considering pilates.

Does anyone have any advice? I've been stuck here for about a month and a half and am becoming increasingly frustrated lol

I feel like exercising is the obvious solution but I might just need some strangers on the Internet to confirm it for me haha

Thanks in advance😊

Penicillin soup trend?

I’ve been seeing this recipe where you boil carrots, onions, and celery in chicken broth, once soft, remove the veggies to blend it, then add it back into the broth.

Original recipe then adds pasta, but I decided to sauté some ginger and shrimp, add that and udon noodles into the mixture. Serve it with a squish of lemon and chili crisps. Probably full of fiber and a great way to get rid of the celery you only used for that one recipe.

Randomly not hungry anymore? Help!

Hey guys. I love this sub. I've been following a 1500 cal diet for about 1 month now, and actually loving it! But the past couple days my hunger for food has shot to 0. Some days I have to force myself to eat, as I do not want to eat under 1000 calories.

One or two days of irregular hunger would be fine, but I don't want this to become a trend. How can I increase my hunger? Will my hunger go back to normal? I used to struggle a bit with restrictive tenancies and do not want to fall back into that, but I'm just not very hungry it seems.

Things that I've done that could potentially be helping me feel full: High protein, I drink lots of coffee, high volume eating. I also try to eat well balanced meals and do not restrict as long as I can fit it into my cals for the day.

The only thing that I can think of is that the past few days for breakfast I've had a high protein, high volume meal that is in general lower cal w/ coffee. But in general, I try to do this every morning. Despite nothing changing however, this breakfast could keep me full for the whole day if I didn't force myself to eat later on. I'm not on any meds or under high stress.

Thoughts on how to help with this? Thanks :)

protein shake debacle

hi everyone, i am stuck between these two protein shakes currently— i am in a cut currently and lift weights 5-6 days a week and am counting my calories. i basically can’t decide if i should just go ahead and get the best bang for my buck regarding protein content or go for the “cleaner” ingredient option. looking for input, as i’m not particularly clean ingredient only— but know that protein products can be quite additive ingredient heavy…i go back and forth on caring or not, lol! thank you in advance!

Help with low carb tortilla texture

I feel like the low carb tortillas (Mission and similar) tend to run a bit on the gummy side. I like using them for pinwheel wraps and am wondering if anyone’s got some techniques to improve the texture at all.

Recipe request?

Hi! I’m not sure where else to go for this one as it’s pretty niche.
We went through a phase where we were drinking CTRL meal replacement shakes a lot, so we stocked up and now have a few bags laying around. We haven’t been drinking them for a while now and I want to find ways to use them up before they go bad. So far I’ve only tried it in pancakes, in place of protein powder. Those turned out pretty good, but there’s only so much pancakes I can make lol

Any other suggestions/ideas/tried recipes would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance y’all!

am I doing this right

I am a 49yo Female, 5'6" -starting weight 184, current weight 173, goal weight 160.

I started tracking my food in MFP at the beginning of August and it took me a couple weeks to figure out what snacks/foods I need to start cutting out. I learned about protein, working out, macros etc through Facebook groups.

I have my calories set at 1500 and I lift weights 3 days a week (burn 300 cal each session at my gym) and walk, hike or ride my bike 7 days a week. I aim at burning around 300-500 cal/day. I do not eat back all of those calories. I try to leave at least half of my exercise calories, so I generally finish my day with a net of 1200-1300 calories eaten (after exercise calories are counted) if that makes sense!

I weigh my self in the morning after using the bathroom and without clothing so it's the same scenario every day. For August and September I lost 4.4 and 4.2 lbs but October isn't going as well even though I've not changed much in my exercise and diet. I've only lost 1.3 lbs in 11 days.

I guess I'm just looking for confirmation that I am doing the right things and just need to be patient. I work out more than I've ever done. I do love to walk and hike and bike but the weights are new. I am sore and need a day off in between, sometimes two days. I am definitely perimenopausal too!

Not the most appealing photo but such a filling breakfast - peanut butter chia pudding

Almond milk, homemade PB, chia seeds, cinnamon powder and frozen fruit, left in the fridge overnight. Not the lowest of cals but a great source of healthy fats, protein, fibre etc and keeps me very full (I’m a breakfast gal so that tends to be my most calorie dense meal)

What would be the healthiest option on here

Hello, I am going to my boyfriend’s celebration dinner tonight that his family is throwing. We are going to Salsa And Beer, a chain of Mexican restaurants in the Los Angeles/ San Fernando area in California.

The issue is I’ve been calorie counting for a a bit now and managed to lose 12 pounds( woot woot) but I have no idea how to calorie count anything there.

The menus don’t have any nutritional section and even if I don’t know the calories I want to stay in the healthier side.

Any input would be helpful, I know it’s not a healthy place to eat but the healthiest I can get so I don’t feel like I’m pigging out and ruining my calorie count. Before I was dieting I would always get the steak picado burrito but they feels so out of my calorie budget.

How do you divide out your calories/meals for the day?

I’m trying to stay within 1500 cal/day and find a meal plan that works for me.

Hungerwise, is it better to eat 3 x 500 cal meals/day with no snacks?

Or 3 smaller meals (~300 cal) with small snacks in between meals?

How do you break up your calories daily?

1500 while exercising?

Hey all!

So right now I am eating about 1200 calories a day for weight loss. In the beginning it worked great, especially because I was super sedentary, but now I'm finding that I am really, really hungry all the time ever since I started working out. (Like 30 min 3x a week, nothing too wild).

I was wondering- would it be OK to increase to 1500 calories a week, even though I'm still pretty sedentary? Ngl I'm worried about gaining the weight back (I finally got to 250 and I don't want to backtrack!) and my dietician appt is 3 weeks away so I wanted to see what experiences you guys had.

Thank you!
